UPDATED: Summer Meltdown concert rocks Golden Valley today The fifth annual marathon "Summer Meltdown Autism Awareness and Social Inclusion Concert" rock festival, produced by the William S. Hart Union High School District's Yes I Can students all spring semester, is an all-ages event set for Saturday, May 10 in the outdoor amphitheater at Golden Valley High School in Canyon Country. Nearly a dozen bands will take the stage between 2:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. The headliner is Trapt, and the lineup features Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction, The Craze, Guilt by Association, Conjob, Un:armed, Mission Black, Cry Havoc, Surface Rising, Maxwell Smart, and Renfue. Mamas, let your babies grow up to be cowboys Five days of celebrating the Santa Clarita Valley's western heritage and film history begin Wednesday, April 23, as the 15th annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival stampedes into the legendary Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio, the William S. Hart mansion, Rancho Camulos and other area locations associated with local Western history. An estimated 10,000 western music and culture fans of all ages are expected to attend the family-friendly event, staged since 1994 by the city of Santa Clarita. Thirty minutes over Lancaster Aviation history buffs and World War II veterans alike had another opportunity to flash back to 1945 this week by walking through and/or taking a flight in a restored B-17G "Flying Fortress" bomber. Flights took off Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and early afternoons from Gen. William J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster, and the plane, the "Aluminum Overcast," was parked on the tarmac and open for tours.
